About Carol Schlef

Who is Carol Schlef and what is she laughing about?

Nurse, social worker, lactation consultant, wife and mom; these are just some of the hats Carol wears, besides her flamingo headgear!

Carol's goal is to put herself out of business. We're talking a major outbreak of health! Keeping folks out of hospitals and nursing homes, and on the golf courses, reading to their kids and shopping the malls is what it's all about.

As any HMO will tell you, laughter is the best medicine. It's free, and the FDA can't regulate it! Despite the fact that they are laughing all the way to the bank, Carol too believes that the more we can do for ourselves, the better we'll be.

Life is all a matter of priorities. Carol Schlef doesn't believe in rushing things. It took her 11 years to get her RN, 21 years to get her BSN, and it will take a lifetime to get her house clean.

Being married for 20 years to a social worker whose specialty is child abuse has given Carol a new perspective on parenting. (He takes an anti-child abuse stance...) So has mothering two boys who seem to have an endless supply of unanswerable questions. What she does believe in and always makes time for is teaching others to care for themselves through education, laughter, and sharing

Her patients and clients over the past 20 years have come to expect high content, humor, and caring. They leave laughing and more knowledgeable about how to improve their health and their lives.

Carol is also the author of "Mosby's Maternal-Newborn Patient Teaching Guides" which garnered a "Book of the Year Award" from the American Journal of Nursing in the electronic media category.
