Ten Tips for Adding Humor
to Your Life
by Carol Schlef, RNC,
MSW, IBCLC
-
Start each
day with a smile--even if you have to fake it!
-
Fit in five
minutes of "mirth-ercise" daily, to stay humorously fit.
-
De-stress
your life, by shaking off distress with a full minute of belly laughing.
-
Read at
least one funny story, cartoon, or riddle daily.
-
Collect
something child-like: funny buttons, Pez dispensers, practical jokes, balloons,
silly glasses/masks, kaleidoscopes, etc.
-
Share a
smile with at least three people every day.
-
Keep a journal:
each night record at least three observations, events, or activities from
your day that you can smile/laugh about.
-
Add color
to your wardrobe. Buy at least one outlandish tie, scarf, tiebar or lapel
pin, and wear it regularly--and proudly!
-
If you watch
the nightly news, create a new, uplifting ending to ata least one news
story.
-
Let your
children (or your friends' children) see you modeling "fun", playful behavior
at least once each week.
BONUS:
ALWAYS KEEP A SMILE ON YOU TO GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO NEEDS ONE!
